Cooking Lessons – Forest Hiking
Are you a cooking enthusiast? Then you should definitely choose this tour! In order to whet your appetite, this tour starts by visiting the Venetian castle surrounded by several winepresses, carved into the rock, believed to have been in use since Minoan times located right outside the village. There we can enjoy the impressive absolute tranquility of nature among the olive groves in the valley. A little further right next to the precinct there is a small church of Zoodochos Pigi. After that, it is time for cooking! You will attend cooking classes and learn how to cook traditional dishes (rich menu). The tavern is located in a small, picturesque & peaceful village, a few minutes away from Heraklion. Lunchtime enjoying all the delicacies we have cooked. The tour ends with a short hike through the grove of pines and firs, a forest famous for its pre-Minoan cemetery. Ideal place to relax and enjoy a refreshing drink.

Hiking at a small forest
- A walk in the wonderful, albeit artificial forest, next to one of the most important archaeological sites of Crete, will surely captivate you. The forest is located on the hill covered with pine and cypress trees.
- A few meters away is the largest cemetery of the Aegean from prehistoric times.
- In the artificial forest of Fourni, exists the largest cemetery of the Aegean, dating from the pre-Minoan period (2400 BC – 2200 BC).
- The most important find is the discovery of the queen’s sarcophagus. Inside this tomb were found remains from the sacrifice of an ox and a horse as well as jewels of untold value.
